We skipped a day because we were busy making “phools” of ourselves:)
Hi,
So it’s the valentine week. The week of love, hearts all around, pink spilled over the market and what not. To be very honest, I have never seen this in real life. My concept of this week is purely in imagination. However, I will not be talking about what are top 5 things to gift your partner, I’ll be talking about the Cupid, the greek god of love.
Cupid is a Greek mythological character equivalent to our desi Kamdev but with a different love story. It is said that Cupid married a human whom he fell in love with because of his own arrow ( ekdum intercaste marriage)
Psyche was a girl of not only impeccable beauty but also brains. Psyche was the only unmarried daughter to her father. Despite his aggressive efforts to find her a suitor she refused to marry just on her face value (you go girl)
Venus was the mother-in-law of Psyche and she was the goddess of love and beauty, and she had sent Cupid to kill Psyche because her crown off being the most beautiful entity was being taken away by none other than, psyche! (its a full on ekta kapoor drama, I swear)
Anyways, so Cupid is a very indecent boy, makes people fall in love but he had never fallen in love himself until his own arrow stuck him and he saw Psyche. Now wait for the crazy part, the man instead of reaching out to Psyche and confessing his love, lured her into a dark cave, convinced her that Psyche should trust her and let someone like him into her life, she accepted but hey hey, gods are weird sometimes. There was a condition, that Psyche was not allowed to see her husband’s face (Cupid’s). Now Psyche is pregnant, she thinks that she should see her husband’s face. She plans and executes it, curtain drops down, Cupid’s face and identity is revealed. Now cupid decides that Psyche has betrayed his trust by seeing his face. He flies away leaving psyche all pregnant but with a promise that her health will be protected.
Psyche is obviously devasted, she decided to visit her mummyji/sasu ma/ Venus ji. Venus ( has no clue her son has married her mortal enemy) seeing her gets super angry and when she narrated her story with Cupid Venus being ekta kapoor serial type Saas plans to kill her. She gives psyche one option in order to be reunited with Cupid, to kill herself and when she’ll be one of the heaven people she can live with her love, Cupid. Now as she was about to jump down the cliff, a hawk came flying and it grabbed Psyche, flew her through the clear skies, above the clouds and into a safe space. Cupid is reunited with psyche again there and he confesses his love for her.
At the end they both arrive back to Cupid’s mum’s home where seeing her son all determined and in love with Psyche she decided to accept this new human Bahu. Venus is again the most appreciated one for beauty so she is back to being happy in her own castle (damn the amount of narcissism )
Moral of the story: love conquers all and narcissistic people don’t need anyone to feel happy.
Happy love week to you all. Go make a fool of yourselves in front of your crush, go.
